AHOY, ME HEARTIES!
Party: Mary Ellen Meredith and Samonia Lee and Dennis Byford teamed up for the annual Pirates Party in their home. The “old salts” have been hosting the party for nine years. The holiday party between Christmas and New Years is a longstanding tradition in their family. When Meredith was redecorating, she was given a globe-shaped bar and a couple of candlesticks that she thought looked like something a retired pirate might have, thus leading to the Christmas Pirates Party. The Rum Fellows from Norman played pirate music, folk songs, Celtic tunes and drinking songs for the crowd.
Decor: Pirate decorations included Jolly Roger flags, chests of doubloons, a wreath with crossed swords and a welcome mat with skull and crossbones. A large pirate with a hook for his hand stood on the front porch. Also by the front door was a basket of eye patches, pirates' hats and other costuming for those did not come in costume but wanted to dress appropriately.
Menu: Seafood, including shrimp and calamari, was on the menu.
Seen: Lou Kerr, Kathy and Dan Provo, Barbara and Ben Harjo, Bonnie and Bert Seabourn, Ann and John Marshall, Barbara and John Nichols, Judy and Bill Phillips, Peg Malloy, Beth and Jim Tolbert, Ann Ackerman, Debbie and Bob Blackburn, America Meredith, Lisa and Jeff McConnell, Sherry Sullivan, Ramona and Homer Paul, Daniel Byford and Michael Byford.
