If you love fashion, history and art, two new exhibits at City Arts Center will make your day. “The Film Costumes of Edith Head” and “Mother's Hats: The Doris Elliott Collection” open June 17. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., an opening artist reception will be held and is free to the public.
“The Film Costumes of Edith Head” features 46 watercolor costume sketches by Head from her time as a costume designer during Hollywood's Golden Age. Her costumes can be seen in classic films such as “Sabrina,” “All About Eve” and “Breakfast at Tiffany's.” “Mother's Hats: The Doris Elliott Collection” features an assortment of 17 couture hats owned by Doris Elliott, mother of Oklahoma City architect Rand Elliott who designed the up-and-coming Classen Curve shopping and entertainment center. The hats are named for the historic Oklahoma City places at which Doris and her husband, Hubert, dined, danced, shopped and painted the town. Both shows are free to the public. Hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 21. For more information, call 951-0000 or go online to www.cityartscenter.org
