JRB to feature dual solo shows

Gallery artists Carol Beesley and John Wolfe will be featured in two concurrent solo shows at JRB Art at The Elms during the month of October.
The exhibit opens with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at the gallery, 2810 N Walker in the Paseo arts district.
Carol Beesley has created a body of work entitled “At Home and Away,” which includes large-scale oil paintings inspired by landscapes in New Mexico, western Oklahoma and in Norman. These paintings are “entirely informed by the jubilation I have experienced in these locations, which are very special and sacred to me,” Beesley said. “These are places I have visited a dozen times — I believe you have to let a place seep into your bones before you paint it.”
John Wolfe’s exhibit, entitled “From the Earth,” will feature botanical paintings and abstract steel sculptures. Wolfe’s vibrant acrylic paintings are of household plants painted at very close range. Wolfe works in almost every medium, but is best known for his mixed media and steel sculptures. For this exhibit, Wolfe has created three large-scale steel abstract sculptures which will be placed in front of the gallery.
