The husband of a pregnant Blanchard woman who was beaten and stabbed to death was charged Monday with two counts of murder.

Justin Adams, 25, was charged in Oklahoma County District Court with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of his wife and her unborn child.

Jaymie Adams, 25, was found dead Jan. 7 at a dirt bike track in southeast Oklahoma City. She was pregnant with her fifth child when she was killed.

A spokeswoman for the state medical examiner's office said Monday that Jaymie Adams was stabbed multiple times and suffered blunt force trauma to the head. Her death has been classified as a homicide.

Court documents filed Monday show Justin Adams took out a $100,000 life insurance policy on his wife. In the second of two interviews with detectives, Adams denied having any insurance on his wife. But an Oklahoma National Guard colonel interviewed six days later told detectives that Adams, a guard member, had a $100,000 life insurance policy on Jaymie Adams that went into effect March 3 of last year.

Court documents obtained Monday show Jaymie Adams engaged in prostitution to make ends meet. Justin Adams told police investigators during a Dec. 12 interview that his wife “hated” working as a prostitute, saying she met clients twice a week, and “when the cellphone bill and van payment were made,” she stopped until another bill was due, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday.

During that interview, Adams repeatedly referred to his missing wife “in the past tense,” even though her body had not been recovered, police reported.

Justin Adams was arrested Jan. 27 at his home in Blanchard and is being held without bail in the Oklahoma County jail.

Court documents also show Adams was romantically involved with another woman. After his arrest, investigators received information from the Oklahoma County sheriff's office regarding correspondence being sent to Adams by a woman identified as Lisa Marie Leaver-Pate, according to the affidavit. The correspondence indicated an intimate relationship “exists” between Leaver-Pate and Justin Adams, police reported, adding that Adams “had asked Leaver-Pate to marry him.” Adams and the woman also discussed whether they “would like to have a swinging relationship,” police reported.

Detectives were unable to interview the woman after her attorney advised against speaking to them, police reported.

Jaymie Adams was reported missing by her husband Dec. 10. He went on television after his wife's disappearance and tearfully pleaded for her return.

Police focused their investigation on Justin Adams after he admitted lying about circumstances surrounding her disappearance. After first telling an officer she was meeting a friend at a McDonald's the night she went missing, Adams later claimed his wife worked as an Internet prostitute and was headed to meet a client.

During a Dec. 15 interview with Adams, detectives confronted him about the couple's cellphone records. The records showed that in the early hours of Dec. 10, their calls were operating from the same telephone towers “for every single call for the time Justin Adams was claiming he was not with Jaymie,” police reported. He called his wife's phone 11 times between 5:12 a.m. and 4:59 p.m. Dec. 10.

Court documents also show Jaymie Adams complained in months leading up to her death she was beaten by her husband.

At no time during his first interview with detectives did Adams reveal a history of domestic violence between him and his wife, saying he and Jaymie “had a great marriage,” police reports indicate.

Jaymie Adams and three of her children were taken to a women's shelter in Norman in November 2011 after an incident at a hardware store, police reported. She also reached out to law enforcement authorities in Grady County a month before her disappearance, accusing her husband of domestic violence at their home.

Tina Clark, Justin Adams' mother, told detectives Dec. 12 that she had not seen domestic violence between the couple, police reported.
