Law firm to provide free rides home during New Year's Eve

The folks at J. Colbert Injury Lawyers and Thunder Cab want you to start the new year safe and sound. The two companies are teaming for the Safe and Sober Cab Ride Home program on New Year's Eve for partygoers who have had too much to drink and need a safe ride home.

“I do this because New Year's Eve is so widely celebrated in our area, I want to provide local residents with a safe alternative home. The safe rides home are meant to protect not only those who are celebrating, but others on the road as well,” said John Colbert, partner at J. Colbert Injury Lawyers.

The program will run from 11 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.

The law firm, which has offices in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Ardmore, offered a similar program St. Patrick's Day.

A representative from the firm said the company will attempt to accommodate as many requests for rides as it receives. A press release from the company said rides will be provided only to a person's residence within Oklahoma City and not to other drinking locations. The service area includes Edmond but not Norman or Yukon.

The release states: “Due to the high number of ride requests on New Year's Eve, rides cannot be guaranteed for everyone who calls; however, every attempt will be made to accommodate all requests. Drivers have the right to use their discretion when accepting fares.”

If you need a ride home on New Year's Eve, call Thunder Cab at 600-6161. A cap of $30 will be placed on each ride. Patrons must pay any cab fare that exceeds $30.
