Executive chef Christine Dowd does spectacular work day in and day out at both Trattoria il Centro, 500 W Main and Aunt Pitty Pat’s catering.
Chef Christine Dowd's corn chowder with shrimp-stuffed jalapeno was one of Odyssey de Culinaire's brightest stars. She created a corn chowder with shrimp-stuffed jalapeno for Odyssey de Culinaire that my wife still hasn’t stopped obsessing over. But for me, there’s no time like Tomato Fest to introduce yourself to chef Dowd and her team. Using a variety of tomatoes sourced as close to home as possible, she makes the humble the tomato the star of the restaurant she owns with partner Maggie Howell each September. Lucky for us, she’s did it for two weeks this year. You have until Sunday to experience Heirloom Carpaccio. It’s colorful, simple and puts the spotlight directly on one of the Earth’s most precious jewel’s, the Heirloom tomato. I’m getting hungry just writing about it. Have you been to Trattoria il Centro’s Tomato Fest? Let me know what you thought.
